August Family Fun Recipe: Mini-Pizza

Celebrate Family Fun Month with delicious homemade mini-pizzas!

In celebration of Family Fun Month, we’re sharing one family-friendly recipe each Friday. Cooking doesn’t have to feel like a chore, it can also be a time for you and your loved ones to learn and have fun together. Your family will gain basic cooking and nutrition skills that they can use for the rest of their lives. And because we’re incorporating food and beverage products that can be recycled in every recipe, your family will learn how to take care of their bodies and the planet at the same time. Pizza lovers, today’s family fun recipe will make you feel like a crafty Italian chef. We’re making mini-pizzas. Enjoy!

P.S. This pairs well with milk or your child’s favorite juice box. If their juice box has a straw, remind them to push the straw back into the box when they’re done, and recycle the entire carton.

Ingredients for 4 mini-pizzas:
1 pound pizza dough, at room temperature
cornmeal, for the baking sheets
1 cup of tomato sauce in a carton
1 cup of toppings of choice
kosher salt and black pepper

Heat your oven to 475° F. Shape the dough into 4 rounds and place on 2 cornmeal-dusted baking sheets. Dividing evenly, top the rounds with the tomato sauce, add your toppings of choice; season with ¼ teaspoon each salt and black pepper. Bake until the crust is golden brown, 18 to 20 minutes. Recycle your tomato carton when you’re done.
